Being the Event Photographer
I love being the event photographer, especially shooting at a vineyard. It's like there's no way to get a bad picture. When I got the call to do Sherwin Family Vineyards 20th Anniversary Event, how could I resist? These were the nicest and most humble winemakers I've ever met. So much so, that I couldn't tell the owners from the event attendees. Everyone was hugging everyone else, much like one giant reunion of sorts- where everyone eats a bunch of food and drinks a bunch of wine. The exception is that this wine is spectacular and this event was done without leaving anything out. Not even the photographer 😉 There was wine flowing from every corner of the property and the food was nothing short of spectacular- cheese, oysters, sliders, outdoor pizza ovens, shrimp, crudite of every type, and the list goes on and on.
Of course it happened to be a balmy 95 degrees outside with crystal clear skies so everyone was wearing sunglasses. At times it was hard to get them in front of the camera without them, but I did my best. Everyone was sincerely easy and fun to work with which made my job simple, even under a ruthlessly sunny and hot sky.
There were canopies set up all over the property to shelter from the sun, but to me, it felt like it was keeping the heat in. There were water bottles in large troughs all over the property- smart move on the family's part. I grabbed one every 10 minutes, along with a few oysters, a couple sliders, and some cheese and crackers. You'd think I didn't have a free hand to take any pictures, but in the end, I took almost 2000 pictures. It was hard to choose which ones to give them, I got so many good ones.
