Bay Area Corporate Group Headshots
Boy do I love tech companies. They’re like the best part of a college campus – food, games, events – but instead of paying for class, they pay you to work. When LinkedIn call me to do corporate group headshots for one of their clients, Workday, I couldn’t resist. Nor did I want to.
When I pulled up to their offices, all I saw were cutting edge employees with great overall casual sense of style. Setting up in their office space, they treated everyone, myself included, to a spread of Noah’s Bagels, a full range of the best cereals, unlimited lattes, an endless supply of Gatorade, and that barely scratches the surface. Why would anyone ever leave this place? They planned for a traditional headshot session, but I tried to spice it up a bit with some personality.
They only expected a couple handfuls of participants – around 9 or 10 – but the group grew considerably once the office in general saw that I was setting up. The next thing I knew, a line of 19 or 20 people developed from within the commissary. The line ran down the hallway. I can’t say I was overwhelmed, but it caught me off guard just a bit. I had already soaked up a good deal of time on the first few and now had to power through the remaining.
Additionally, I forgot to bring my step stool and a good portion of the group was taller than me. I grabbed a chair and used it instead. It worked, but the chair was too high and I ended up in a squat for much of the shoot. It felt like a cross-fit workout. I kept sweating. Good thing I wore extra-strength anti-perspirant.
In the end, the photos turned out great, and the people were amazing.
